CHAMBER MUSIC
MARSHSONG AND ESTUARY DANCE 2009 (flute and piano)
two-movement piece with a planned third (middle) piece. Marshsong, a lyrical
duet begins with a mystical motif sliding pitch motif. Estuary Dance is written in
9/8, the traditional meter for an Irish slip jig. Full of perpetual motion and
contrasting sections this movement is a modern take on Sturm and Drang.
SUITE FOR FLUTE ALONE 2009 (flute/alto flute)
four contrasting movements, blends bits of Celtic, Latin and jazz alternating
between washes of color and flashy rhythms.
